Why use a fitted Tyvek cover?
Lightweight, breathable protection
Tyvek can provide a breathable outer barrier against dust and airborne particulates while remaining light enough for regular handling. Breathability can support air exchange around an enclosure, but a cover does not control relative humidity or replace appropriate environmental management.
Durable and reusable
Tyvek is tear resistant for its weight, making it suitable for covers that need to be removed, refitted and handled repeatedly. The finished cover should still be inspected as part of routine collection-care procedures.
Water and splash resistance
The material can help protect against incidental splashes and minor leaks. A finished cover is not a substitute for leak prevention or flood planning, and its seams, closures and openings affect overall performance.

2. Send measurements and photographs
Provide maximum width × depth × height in millimetres. Include front, side and top photographs, plus details of handles, hinges, wheels, labels and other protrusions.
3. Confirm the specification
We will review the application and clarify the fit, access, closure, label window, quantity and delivery requirements.
4. Approve the quote
Once the specification is agreed, Archvail will provide pricing and the applicable production and delivery information.
5. Production and delivery
Your covers are made to the approved specification and supplied to the nominated delivery location.

Is Tyvek suitable for archival storage?
Tyvek is used in many collection-care contexts because it is lightweight, durable, water resistant and breathable. Suitability depends on the exact product, finished-cover components, object, environment and whether direct contact is involved. A cover complements—not replaces—appropriate primary enclosures, environmental management and professional conservation advice.
Are the covers waterproof?
Tyvek is water resistant, but the performance of a finished cover also depends on its seams, zip, label window and other openings. Archvail covers should not be treated as flood protection or a replacement for leak prevention.
